MEETING MINUTES
MARCH 11, 2008

1. CALL TO ORDER /ROLL CALL
President A. Maldonado called the meeting to order at 6:10 p.m.

2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: JJ Abundez made a motion to approve February minutes with corrections to line three under New Business. Line reads "We had the pleasure of meeting Dr.Fijmans's ( psychologist) it should read( psychiatrist). On page three there is a short sentence that reads ($100.000 thousand dollars for the purchase of the property) that should be deleted.

J. Reyes seconded the motion. A voice was taken and the motion passed with unanimous consent.

3. FINANCE REPORT: Treasurer E. Solis gave the finance report. R. Solis made a motion to approve the finance report, along with tonight's meeting expense. G. Arteaga seconded the motion. A voice was taken and the motion passed with unanimous consent.

4. REPORTS FROM COMMITTEES: There was ten (10) Scholarship applications received, however only two (2) met the qualifications. The names of the individuals will be announced at the Cinco De Mayo dance Saturday May 3, 2008, two (2) scholarships of $500.00 will be awarded.

Cinco De Mayo Committee has been working very hard, food , music and entertainment has been confirmed, still more to come.

5. OLD BUSINESS: The Wounded Warriors Battallion barbeque was great . There was approximately 6 to 7 marines. Thank you everyone who participated and contributed to this event. Special thanks to O. Telo who provided the music, and to R. Roberts for all those delicious baked goods. The leftover food and drinks were left at the Battalion Center.

6. NEW BUSINESS: G. Arteaga gave orientation to new employees about CCWA, we had some employees sign up, thank you Jr. good job!

Some CCWA board and family members attended a food handler and alcohol class to run a concession stand for a couple of Padre Games, profits will go to our CCWA Association.

Mr Eric Estrada from the 24 hour Fitness Athletic Club is offering a special on membership to Correctional Officers and their families, for more information contact Mr Estrada at the 24 hour fitness located in Chula Vista on Broadway.

Mr. Auday Arabo who is running for the Democratic State Assembly for the 78th District spoke on public safety and how he supports the men and women in Corrections.

The Fil-Asian- Pacific Islanders Association will be having a food sale on March 12 2008, please help support by purchasing a plate.

The CCWA Corcoran State Prison had a recruitment drive and had a total of (107) new members sign up, Congratulations.

On May 10 2008, the CCWA in Imperial Valley will be hosting a all you can eat Crab feed for $35.00 a person or $60.00 a couple. Yummy, yummy fresh crab, if interested in tickets contact

The National Latino Peace Officer Association will be in town for there annual training at the end of May.

7. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Our deepest condolesecnce to L. Medina (CCI) on the passing of her brother.
Our deepest condolesecnce to A Calderon on the passing of his mother.
The Sergeant's and Lieutenant's exam our coming up, make sure and submit your applications.
New location for monthly meetings is still in the works.
8. ADJOURNMENT: E. Solis made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:45 p.m..
W .Mitchell seconded the motion. A voice was taken and motion passed with unanimous consent.
