MEETING MINUTES

AUGUST 12, 2008

1. CALL TO ORDER /ROLL CALL

2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: G. Arteaga made a motion to approve July minutes.
J. Reyes seconded the motion. A voice was taken and the motion passed with unanimous consent, with corrections to J. Eustice, Guest, should read Member.

3. FINANCE REPORT: E. Solis gave the finance report. P. Zinser made a motion to approve the finance report, along with tonight's meeting expense. JJ. Abundez seconded the motion. A voice was taken and the motion passed with unanimous consent.

4. REPORTS FROM COMMITTEES: If anyone is interested in running for the CCWA San Diego Chapter Board contact J. Eustice or A Peterson for applications.
The National Latino Peace Officers Associations will be held in Denver on October 29, 30, 31, 2008 the cost is $250.00 it includes the Training and Gala plus two lunches.
The CCWA Board of Directors Meeting will be held in November 8, 9, 10, 2008 at the Double Tree Hotel in Ontario, at least like five members to attend the training conference and bring one gift basket for the Gala. For non-members the cost is $225.00 for two days and $125.00 for one day. Members the cost will be $200.00 for two days and $135.00 for 1 day, it includes room and training, plus certificate.

5. OLD BUSINESS: J Reyes would like to apologize for not attending the Board of Directors Meeting due to a funeral and would like to thank G. Arteaga for attending on the Presidents behalf.
Mr Hernandez (Warden) plans are to retire in December.
A special thank you to everyone who attended our CCWA Annual Recruitment Picnic. It was a great turnout, an applause well deserved for a very well organized event.

6. NEW BUSINESS: CCWA would like to hold a Halloween Dance with the ABCW and
Fil-Am-Pacific Islanders and CCPOA. M. Lucero holds a fund raiser Halloween Dance every year we will check with her to maybe organize something together.
ABCW Statewide Convention will be held on October 7, 2008 at the Town and Country in Mission Valley. Contact Chapter President N. Matthews for more information..
CCWA is looking into having a fund raiser BBQ plate for $6.00 and a burrito and bake sale.
CCWA would like to organize a Tecate run and visit the Prison EL ONGO.
The Arteaga's have been assigned to the Hall Committee for 2009 Cinco de Mayo Dance.

7. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Congratulations to E. Fontan and Team Donovan for bringing home the Trophy once again in the Battle of the Badges!
Welcome home and congratulations to Associate Warden A. Cota!
National Latino Peace Officers Associations meets the 3rd of every month.
National Latino Peace Officers Associations will hold their 2nd Annual Comedy Night on Friday, August 22, 2008. Doors open at 6:30 for cocktails. The show begins at 8:00, with four Comedians. The cost is $45.00 per person for tickets contact Omar Carranza at 858-228-7290 or Jerry Hara at 619-200-9444.

There will be a 11 week course of the Citizens Police Academy starting September 3, 2008 and graduation will be November 12, 2008. The classes will be held on Wednesday nights from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Application deadline is August 22, 2008 by 5:00 pm . If interested please contact Richard Preuss at (619) 691-5127.
The bilingual pay will be eliminated, a company will be hired to work.

Congratulations to Chief Deputy Warden S. Garcia on her Project Manager for the new health care facility and then to Superintendent!

8. ADJOURNMENT: J. Reyes made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:20 p.m.
P. Zinser seconded the motion. A voice was taken and motion passed with unanimous consent.
