The National Latino Peace Officers Association conference is May 28, 29, 30 and 31, 2009, in Los Angeles. Visit www.ccwa.net for brochure and registration form by clicking on event ad at the top of web page.

Last Friday S. Gonzalez and A. Macias went to a meet and greet for new officers. Protocols and procedures were discussed. S. Gonzalez again brought up CSP-Corcoran’s CCWA Chapter money situation. S. Gonzalez is going to produce a finance memo for the Board of Director’s meeting February 28, 2009.

S. Gonzalez has received requests for donations to different organizations. At this time no money can be given out until money is received from the state.

S. Gonzalez passed out information regarding the 4 indicators of blood clots/stroke. The questions to ask an individual in order to recognize a stroke are: Ask the individual to SMILE; ask the person to TALK and SPEAK IN A SIMPLE SENTENCE (coherently); Ask them to RAISE BOTH ARMS; and ask the person to “STICK” out their tongue. If the tongue is crooked, goes to one side or the other, that is also an indication of a stroke. Call emergency right away and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

S. Gonzalez provided information regarding Avenal State Prison’s “Spring Pachanga”. It is for April 3, 2009, at KC Bowling Alley. Anyone interested, contact S. Gonzalez at x7489.
Next Meeting scheduled for Wednesday, February 25, 2009, 1415 hours, in the CSP-Corcoran Snack Bar.
Minutes prepared by Debbie Chinchock.
